The Draft is a mere 5 days away. There are many rumors of who is trading and which player is going where. Do you have any thoughts on your team? Do you care to make any ballsy predictions? OH yeah, clarification. Bears will take Zach if they still have #31 in the draft. If they move up to #6 they will take RB Adrian Petersen from Oklahoma. They may also deal the pick to pick up a few more picks and get LB Jon Beason or Paul Posluszny later in the round.

The research you put in this is cool. I hope you can show this stuff to ESPN, and one up Mel Kiper and get a broadcasting job.

Tampa after Briggs? That would be a shocker since they have the jones for that GT receiver. The Denver angle I like a lot. He would help the Broncos out BIG TIME and the Broncos have the picks to play with. I would ask for #21 and #70 for Briggs and our #37. With Denver #21 I would take OT Levi Brown from Penn State if available. If not you take OLB Jon Beason or Paul Posluszny. Then you stay the course at #31 taking the best available TE, Olsen or Z. Miller. The Washington deal would be OK too but I have cooled to it. Washington wants too much.

Assuming they stay put, I see Dwayne Bowe at 31 and Z. Miller at 37. I think there are some O-Line prospects deeper in the draft that they will target in the later rounds. Some posts I’ve read have them going with K. Irons out of Auburn at 37 to off-set Benson. Might be interesting. Thoughts?

I like Dwayne Bowe a lot. The issue is I think they have greater needs. WR is a need but they will find one in the mid-rounds. They need a RB, DT, TE and CB/S. I like Miller a lot at 31 and trust me, Angelo took heat by not getting a TE in last year’s draft which was the deepest TE draft EVER. However, if Briggs is dealt this is all out the window because OLB will be the priority. All that being said I don’t think I would be disappointed with Bowe at 31. He is a younger Moose. Average speed, good route runner, decent hands and isn’t afraid of the middle of the field.

New News
Rumors du jour or smoke gets in your eyes…
From gbnreport.com
Chicago and Miami may work something out over franchised Bears’ LB Lance Briggs involving a swap of the 9th and 31st picks. And like the Broncos, the Bears may make this move a stepping stone to go even higher as Chicago is rumored to be interested in moving up to get Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn…

I don’t see the bears going for Quinn. Too much time spent getting Grossman up and running in the current system. To draft Quinn now tells me they don’t believe they will make it to this year’s Super Bowl. I like the idea of Quinn in a bears uniform, but I don’t see them making that move.

LATEST NEWS – April 27
(10:00 AM): Bears-Skins trying to briggs the gap… Pretty much as expected, talks between Chicago and Washington have been rekindled about a pre-draft deal between the two that would send Bears’ franchised LB Lance Briggs to the Redskins. As compensation, the Bears would get the 6th pick in tomorrow’s draft, with the Bears’ first rounder, the 31st overall, going to the Redskins. The two teams had reportedly come close on a deal earlier this month but talks floundered because the Bears wanted a veteran player included in the mix and the Redskins refused. There is no further information at this time, though, what if anything extra the Redskins might be willing to part with. Indeed, it appears that the Redskins haven’t offered much of anything more. In the end, it is possible that the Bears may have to settle for just the 6th pick if no other offers come along. Briggs, a two-time Pro Bowl weak-side linebacker, has been in a contract dispute with Chicago since the Bears lost to Indianapolis in the Super Bowl. The dispute centers on Chicago’s decision to name Briggs the team’s franchise player, which allows it to pay him a one-year contract at $7.2 million. Briggs wants a long-term contract and has threatened to sit out most of next season if the Bears don’t trade him or work out an extension. There is also speculation that the Redskins already have contract parameters in place with Briggs should they acquire him. The other interesting aspect to the story is what the Bears would do with the 6th pick if they did end up picking that high. One scenario has them then packaging that pick in an attempt to move higher in order to get Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn. On the other hand, there are other reports that the Bears would then try and trade down from #6 using players like Quinn or Oklahoma RB Adrian Peterson as bait if either or both were still on the board at that time.
Pack make offer to KC for star RB… There is an unconfirmed report on a Scout.com outlet that Green Bay has offered Kansas City the 16th pick plus a 4th rounder for RB Larry Johnson whom the Chiefs are reportedly shopping. Johnson becomes a free agent at the end of the season and Kansas City is unlikely to want to meet what are expected to be some pretty high demands from Johnson who also isn’t a big favorite in the Chiefs locker room. Indeed, if the Packers and Chiefs were to agree on a trade, it is likely that Green Bay would have at least a verbal agreement on a contract with Johnson in place prior to the move.
